Empowering through Education
The purpose of the Kate Edger Foundation trading as The Graduation Place is to provide funds for the promotion, advancement and encouragement of education for women, either in research and professional activities, or artistic and creative activities.
Each year, The KEF funds approximately 110 educational awards totaling $600,000, predominantly for women. Funding varies for each award from $2,000 up to $18,000 to assist with study expenses, fees or retraining.
The award selection process is overseen by an experienced Awards Committee and the approach is both academic and holistic, considering things such as financial need, whether the applicant is first in family to study, or any challenges they might have.

The KEECT Resilience Award
in memory of Elizabeth Crannigan
Value: $1,000

Mrs. Elizabeth Crannigan was a much loved mother, grandmother, teacher, mentor, artist and friend.
Her daughter Margaret is a long serving trustee on The KEECT board. In this role, and as Manager of Scholarships and Graduations at the University of Auckland, Margaret knows all too well the sacrifices, hardships, and obstacles faced by many students during their studies.
Mrs Crannigan's teaching career was centred around helping those students who might otherwise 'slip through the cracks'. So it is in her memory that Margaret and her daughter Laura have chosen to fund this special award to acknowledge the resilience of a Kate Edger Awardee in overcoming adversity to achieve their education goals.
