Ceremony Procedures
The graduation ceremony is a time of celebration and tradition. It is also a complex event to organise.
Please take a few moments to read the information below so that you are informed about how the day will unfold.
Prior to the ceremony
The smooth running of the ceremony is dependent upon the registration and assembly process which confirms the attendance of the graduands and enables Registry to organise their correct sequence prior to the procession into the auditorium. The registration area will be located downstairs in the Wintergarden of the Civic Theatre.
Graduands who participate in the procession and whose ceremony immediately follows
Report to the procession assembly area in Albert Park. At the completion of the procession you will be led straight down into the Wintergarden for a final assembly prior to the ceremony. You must be inside the Wintergarden no later than 30 minutes prior to the ceremony start. The doors will be closed after this time to enable the graduand ordering to commence.
Graduands who participate in the procession and whose ceremony is later the same day
Upon completion of the procession you have some free time and are not required to report back to the Wintergarden until prior to your ceremony.
You must be inside the Wintergarden no later than 30 minutes prior to the ceremony start. The doors will be closed after this time to enable the graduand ordering to commence.
Graduands who do not participate in the procession
You are required to report to the Wintergarden prior to your ceremony.
You must be inside the Wintergarden no later than 30 minutes prior to the ceremony start. The doors will be closed after this time to enable the graduand ordering to commence.
It is strongly advised that handbags, flowers etc. be given to your guest prior to registration and assembly. Such items cannot be taken into the auditorium.
